Well, it's officially time to start the second annual "No Buy July." Ben came up with this idea last year to see exactly what we could live on in a dire situation... and to try to save up some cash. If I remember correctly last year, it was only a couple hundred dollars that we saved which means that we don't really waste a lot of money... Ben thinks I could have done better, but I wasn't going to not buy food for crying out loud! This year I'll try to do more with beans and rice... we'll see how we do. Anyone want to join in on NBJ?
Thanks to my sister Lisa for Lucas's new threads. She figured she better fill his closet for the summer now, since I can't fill it in July. She's such a nice aunt!
On another note, Ben just found a freakin' scorpion in our bathroom and that makes me really aggravated. Ahhhhh!
And on another 'nother note, doesn't Lucas look hot when he puts his food in his hair? If only I could achieve the same look with hair gel...

So what exactly are the rules of NBJ?
And are there exclusionary clauses? For example, moving?
We're pretty much in. We are on a NBSHJ (second half of June) to NBA (August). Bills, food, and a lot of creativity. We also decide each morning who is driving more and that person drives the most efficient car.
I'll see if Ben will leave a comment about the rules. He's the inventor.
Basically, no more eating out for Ben. Cooking at home more. Not as many fun groceries. Not as much driving, I guess.
No shopping trips for shoes and dresses...
No fun, basically ;).
Sounds pretty much like how we've been living since we got to NC :-) I'm in.
There are no official rules to NBJ, which is probably why it wasn't a huge success last year. But it's really about the spirit of the endeavor, as opposed to the guidelines. It's simply an exercise in extreme frugality - most of the stuff we buy we don't need in the 1st place. Now, you're going to have to get gas, etc. Granted. But even that "etc." is up to you.
One of the downsides about No Buy July is the fact that a major holiday occurs right at the onset. But fortunately, I haven't had the 4th off for two years now (Going on three).
Cheapskates unite!
Lee, I think that you can totally exclude the moving expenses from the game.
Krista and Scot, I'm excited to play with you guys... it's more fun with a group. Ben's parents are in, too.
I like how Ben said, "most of the stuff we buy we don't need..." I beg to disagree. We need most of the stuff we buy, I think. Except for the coconut popsicles that Ben bought last night... but I'm glad he bought them!
That sounds interesting--NBJ. I'll have to talk that over with Jer. Love the pics; cute clothes and great hair! :)

I don't wanna play NBJ! ;)
